What Are Your Concerns?



There are endless permutations of things to be concerned about as you agethat is, if you decide to spend your time perseverating about them. If you do so, you can create your own particular and personalized blend of angst.

In general, the problem could seem to revolve around loss. You can let yourself be concerned that you're becoming less than what you once Wereless capable, less attractive, less able to compete. You may face what you perceive as a diminution in your capacityyou worry you may be slower, weaker, or (heaven forbid!) duller. You may even fear you're not worth talking to. Like invisible. On the other hand, of course, there's that mythology: rich is sexy, and there's a pretty good chance that you're financially comfortable as you pass through your forties.

Once, being older meant being possessed of the accumulated wisdom of society. Elders were sought out in times of trouble and were not regarded as people to be avoided. Paleolithic clans relied on the older men to provide the locations of safe trails, good shelter, hunting secrets, and spiritual incantations.
