Actual Psychological Problems at Midlife, Part 1



Now for the other head problems. Physiological problems aside, simply being in midlife, with the attendant stressors and physical changes to deal with, could cause plenty of mental anguish. A percentage of your angst, however, may be plenty difficult, if not downright impossible, to do anything about. You could, of course, make it a practice to watch funny movies several times a week and get in your daily quota of belly laughs. Take the rampant youth reversion that some midlifers tend to fall into, including chasing around after forbidden sexual adventures. This process can easily destroy a familyyours, to be specific, and perhaps hers too. Let's face it, if you're feeling old, fat, and unloved, and some attentive younger woman suddenly seems turned on by your presence, it's going to be hard to remember how much you love and respect your wife. Most of us can actually do it (don't believe everything you see on Knott's Landing), but you're only human when other less human thoughts cross your mind. Fortunately, most men can still prioritize their passions.
